Dear IIUG,

As you may have heard, the Overland Park Marriott has embarked on a $20 million renovation that will dramatically improve the comfort, productivity and quality of stay for every guest, from business to leisure travelers. In August, we started the renovation of our meeting and banquet rooms, and I wanted to take some time and share with you the elements of this renovation, which will be completed September 5, 2008.

Prior to doing so, I would like to assure you that the construction will not affect group bookings or guests, as the guest room renovations will be completed in a phased process, on isolated floors. The guest room project will be completed on October 15, 2008.

The Overland Park Marriott has more than 14,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, including two ballrooms and 15 meeting rooms that can easily be transformed for social events or business meetings.

• The renovation will include dramatic updates to the look and feel of this space. Carpets and wall coverings will be replaced with brand new materials in burgundy shades with blue and green highlights.
• Along with the essential business amenities such as high speed Internet, the space will now feature a new sound system and flexible digital lighting to meet your meeting needs.
• Overland Park Marriott also offers in-house audiovisual technology and the Red Coat service featuring "red button" 45-second response time.
• Foyer space will be modified to include modern lighting and new carpet to create a great space for receptions or exhibits.
